Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies

PRENATAL CARE

The importance of prenatal care can not be underestimated. Early admission into prenatal care improves the probability for a successful pregnancy.
What you eat and what you drink or smoke affects your baby. When you are pregnant, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs can hurt your unborn baby.
Don't take prescription drugs or over-the-counter medicine before asking your doctor.

Being pregnant or breastfeeding a baby is a big job. And the statewide Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children, known as WIC, is here to help you.

HELP PROTECT YOUR BABY FROM BIRTH DEFECTS.
Take a vitamin pill or eat foods that have folic acid in it every day. Folic acid is a special vitamin that can help prevent birth defects of the brain and spinal cord.
